It may have been a shoddy year, but the SUP community really came alive in 2020 on Instagram. I thought it might be a good idea to share a few of my favourite accounts, not everyone is a paddleboarder but they’re all fab accounts sharing the love of the sea.
Gill – @sup_loving_gill
A fellow Bluefin Ambassador, Gill shares both pretty pictures of her paddles and lots of informative videos discussing safety equipment.
I’m majorly jealous of her living so close to the water, but on days when I can’t make it out for a SUP session I’m sure I can see just how glorious it was out on the water by checking Gill’s page!
Anni – @annie.taylor.creates
For regular posts of envy enducing sunsets and water shots, Anni is the person to follow!
A professional water photographer & painter, based on the Dorset coast. She’s also the founder of sea swims at @coldwatercollective/
SUP Mid Wales – @supmidwales
Regularly posting the dreamiest shots of their stunning country, it looks like Wales is the place to be for moody shots of paddleboards and castles.
With shots that look like they belong in fairy tales, these girls are the reason Wales is on my list of places to go once this pandemic is over.
Lucy – @ocean_luce
Fascinating photos that are always accompanied by really informative captions, I really enjoy the new facts about the sea I learn from marine scientist Lucy’s instagram.
A career path I wish I had the brains to follow, she’s also a diver and paddleboarder. Living the absolute dream!
Sarah – @plussizepaddler
Sarah is making waves in the SUP community by putting pressure on kit brands to be more inclusive with sizing.
Having had issues in the past with always needing to modify my kit to fit me (short legs, long body), this lovely lady has been an inspiration to follow!
Meg – @seemebythesea_
For stunning shots of the Jurassic Coast Meg is definitely one to follow. Documenting her trips, sea dips and journey to becoming a surfer, you’ll be green with envy every time she posts.
I’m not quite brave enough to get in the sea in just a swim suit, but hopefully I’ll be joining her for a surf session some time soon!
